First Look: Zacuto Next-Gen Recoil Rigs
11/19/2014Taking the wraps off of their long-rumored EVF, Zacuto announces the Gratical HD Micro OLED EVF. This compact viewfinder uses a micro OLED panel no bigger than your thumbnail, packed with more than 5.4 million dots, that displays HD video with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, producing true blacks for a sharp image that aids you in evaluating focus. Designed and built for use in the field, the EVF features weather-resistant port covers, an ARRI-compatible rosette and a 1/4"-20 mounting screw, which allow this EVF to interface with virtually any mounting system. It is powered by an LP-E6 type battery. Incorporating HDMI and SDI inputs and outputs, and supporting HDMI to SDI cross-conversion; you can create, load, save, and apply LUTs to both the viewfinder’s display and the downstream video. A custom-designed optical system provides diopter adjustment from -1 to +4 with an automatic light trap to prevent damage from inadvertent exposure to the sun. Featuring 1280 x 720 resolution and a dual-core FPGA for upgrades, Zacuto claims that this may just be the last EVF you will ever need to buy.
