Landscape photography is always about the light. During his lecture for B&H’s 2017 Optic conference, Sigma Pro Roman Kurywczak offers this statement as the number one tenet for capturing magical landscapes. And, as you’ll see from his photos, the hour before and after sunrise and sunset are key. Light changes all the time, and ideal conditions don’t last long. By the time you see it, the opportunity to capture the moment is over. Join Kurywczak on this inspirational journey, showcasing images from some of the most beautiful places on earth—from the coast of Iceland to the deserts of the American Southwest. Along the way, he discusses tips, settings, and techniques, as well as the gear you’ll need to be able to capture stunning images of your own.

In this B&H-sponsored OPTIC 2017 presentation, photographer Brooks Jensen discusses what he calls “The Spectrum.” Topics include our perceptions of what makes for “good print presentation,” i.e., matting, print numbering, and other codified practices. Also discussed are the differences between the image and the print, which is an implementation of the image, print media, offset printing (magazines, books), iPads, and other mobile devices, and the history of photographic presentations.
