At B&H’s Optic 2019, commercial photographer Lanakila “Lana” MacNaughton shares her incredible story of achieving sobriety and developing an intense passion for photography. Lana shoots almost entirely with film, which she says gives her a deeper emotional connection to the subject. As a polar expedition diver and photographer with Lindblad Expeditions/ National Geographic, he tours the remote underwater landscapes of our planet. He produces online media and public outreach campaigns that encourage urgency to protect and better understand the precious nature of our planet’s saltwater ecosystems. Leading a team of creative marine educators, North employs storytelling as a tool to advance the methods of how science is communicated to the public.
