Convergent Design shows a product preview of its Athena, an upcoming 4K recorder and playback device that's also an encoder/decoder, at NAB 2014. In contrast to the Odyssey recorder, the 1/2 rack-size Athena is designed not for on-camera use but for studio and presentation use. It employs SSDs for media and inputs 4K at 60p or two simultaneous 4K streams at 30p.
