Every photograph tells a story. Do you want to learn some techniques to help you become a more eloquent storyteller? Selective focus is a technique that can help you control which part of your image stands out. Understanding selective focus will expand your creativity. Whether you are a photojournalist or traditional photographer, this technique will enhance your storytelling skills in every photo. It will help you to fully explain and amplify your visual statement. The nice thing is that it is not limited to weddings and portraits—once you understand how to use it and why it works, selective focus can be employed in every facet of your photography including editorial, commercial, advertising, landscape, and industrial applications. Your presenter, award-winning photographer Emanuele “Manny” Pontoriero, will explain and show what selective focus is and how to achieve it using the tools and equipment that will make it easy to accomplish. Pontoriero will also reveal to you how to incorporate the thought process of creating memorable photos through selective focus. This is a must-see presentation to help you learn how to improve your photographic storytelling vocabulary.

Painting with light is an exciting and artistic way to portray your subject in a completely unique manner. Using the darkness of night as the backdrop and any subject as the canvas, the photographer works like a painter using flashlight to illuminate, highlight, and emphasize their subject. Using your own light source to illuminate the scene provides unrivaled creativity in rendering your final image. Experimentation with color, intensity and angle of the light source creates limitless possibilities and adds another technique to your portfolio. The tools are simple and the technique easy to master. Come join professional photographer and author Tim Cooper as he shares the tips and tricks to create light-painting masterpieces. Tim Cooper  began his career as a commercial and assignment photographer working with clients such as The North Face, The Ritz Carlton, Vasque boots, 3M, Blue Note Records, and The International Heart Institute. His editorial and commercial photographs have appeared in Travel & Leisure, New York Times Magazine, Outdoor Photographer, Ebony, Fly Rod & Reel, Modern Luxury, and Private Clubs as covers, advertising, art, and editorial illustration.  In addition to commercial work, Cooper has also been involved with the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, since 1993.
