Daniel Cartamil, PhD, is a marine biologist and conservation photographer at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He has studied sharks since 1993 and worked as a fisheries biologist in Alaska, California, and Mexico. His passion for the natural world inspired him to devote 10 years to photographing Baja, California's untamed wilderness for his new book, Baja's Wild Side (Sunbelt Publishing). Eileen Rafferty believes in making meaningful work and discovering something new every day. With an MFA in Photography/Film from VCU and a BS in Physiology from Penn State University, she currently teaches workshops and lectures on creative subjects around the country. She also freelances as a video editor, an Adjunct Professor, and heads a creative consultancy business to inspire and motivate clients to pursue and nurture a creative life. If you bought a wonderful DSLR and are having great results shooting outside and you are now ready to start doing some serious indoor shooting, like portraits, and are flummoxed by the daunting world of lighting, this seminar is for you. “Lighting Basics Made Easy” is a great beginner talk that will take some of the mystery out of lighting with a discussion of the different types of light and their properties, including color temperature, specularity and intensity.
