Canon’s Cinema Camera arsenal is adding new lens kit options for freelancers and event photographers eyeing the EOS R5 C or EOS C70. The EOS C70 Cinema Camera Kit and the EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera Kit equip you with the EOS series camera body and the RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM Zoom Lens to shoot wide-angle and close-up portraits easily with a single device.
The C70 cinema camera features a mirrorless-style camera body with Cinema EOS video tools for a dual-use device suited for portraiture and video capture. It’s Super35 Dual Gain Output sensor provides a 16+ stop dynamic range with Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus technology for clear, noise-free images. Other cinema-quality features are housed within the camera’s compact, durable body, making the C70 a great choice for single-shooter applications.
The R5 C also allows event photographers to fulfill the photo and video needs of their clients. The most notable feature of the mirrorless cinema camera is its native switch that transitions the device from still photo shooting to videography with full-frame, 8K60 capabilities. The cameras are closely related, thanks to their familiar EOS tools, but the R5 C adds notable improvements with 4K120 recording, HDMI RAW output, Canon Log 3 HLG/PQ support, Dual Pixel CMOS AF with eye detection, and unlimited recording time. Design improvements include a timecode port, active cooling system, a high-power LP-E6NH battery, 13 customizable buttons, and a multi-function shoe for XLR adapters.
RF mounts on both camera bodies allow for compatibility with Canon’s slew of RF lenses, known for their advanced coatings and image stabilization technology. The RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens is no exception to this with its three Ultra-Low Dispersion and aspherical elements to correct chromatic and spherical aberrations for sharp images with accurate color. An Air Sphere Coating applied to the elements reduces backlit flaring and ghosting for consistent light transmission and high contrast. The 24 to 70mm variable focal length makes for a versatile lens capable of capturing wide-angle images to portraits and close-ups with a single lens.
A built-in Optical Image Stabilizer minimizes the appearance of camera shake by five stops for improved image quality when working in low-light conditions with slower shutter speeds. The Nano USM system ensures quick and accurate focusing, which is ideal for photo and video applications due to its smooth and virtually silent movement.
The C70 and the R5 C lens kits include the same familiar mounting, power, and storage accessories you might receive when purchasing the camera bodies or the lens separately.
