In 2013, the world of mini drone cinematography and photography was in its infancy. I bought my first drone that year: the DJI Phantom 2. I had to add a GoPro to it if I wanted to capture video or photos. Flash forward a few years and drones capable of recording 4K video, omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, auto-tracking, high resolution stills, and extended battery life started to appear on the market. Today, drones that fit in the palm of your hand can deliver high-end cinematic imagery and photos for a fraction of the cost of full-sized,

Community can be a powerful resource in promoting representation within creative fields. This is nowhere more evident than in the recent blossoming of communities dedicated to racial and gender equity. As part of our celebration of Black History Month, we looked to Instagram in assembling this list of community feeds dedicated to black photographers and visual content creators.
We started by contacting a few popular communities, expanding from there by adding feeds recommended by our initial contacts. We've organized the feeds alphabetically

Whether you are far into your photography career or just starting out, whenever you complete a dish in your kitchen or have a plate placed in front of you at a restaurant, your nearest camera is likely a smartphone. When all you want to do is dig in, the

Typing #food into Instagram's search bar returns more than 450 million posts, making the search for food photographers on this social platform somewhat akin to "shooting fish in a barrel." Yet, while the number of followers to the most popular feeds surpasses the million mark, when it comes to the topic of food, it's a common occurrence for cookbook authors, recipe creators, food stylists, and celebrity chefs to add the term "photographer" to their skill set, thereby magnifying the popularity of this flavorful subject.
To assemble this current

For me, playing guitar has always been a way to share an afternoon or evening with others, expressly devoid of politics or religion, conversational topics I avoid for political and religious reasons. Music is a common language that is its own form of communication, so in the spring of 2001, I joined an online discussion forum, sponsored by an industry magazine. I was thrilled by the idea of engaging with like-minded musicians who would be only too happy to discuss music, guitars, gear (“What strings should I use?”), songwriting, technique,

Calling up the hashtag #macro on Instagram currently reveals more than 18 million posts, with #macrophotography coming in a close second at more than 10 million. Numbers like that make finding individual feeds that stand out from the pack somewhat akin to searching for a needle in a haystack. There is certainly no shortage of talent, but more often than not, individual feeds include a smattering of macro views, along with the rest of the kitchen sink.
To assemble this current selection, we sought out consistency of subject matter that included

A future career path wasn’t even a blip on the radar when Sara Dietschy first displayed the determination and moxie that would catapult her to Internet stardom in the traditionally male-driven arena of tech. As a 4-year-old in Grapevine, Texas, she just wanted to play sports with the boys.
Dietschy credits her parents, particularly her mother, with the total support that has allowed her to always follow her dreams. “From that early on I was like, ‘You know what mom, the ladies aren't taking this as seriously as I would like to, I think we're

Adobe has just announced the newest release of its consumer photo and video editing applications, Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2018, for Mac and Windows. In the professional editing industry, Adobe has been one of the few top names for many years. Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects are found in virtually every studio. The Elements versions are for those editors who want to make creative and polished photos and videos, but quicker and easier than possible in the pro versions, and they’re designed with the weight and

In my humble opinion, there have been three things keeping OLED TVs from reaching the maximum fandom they deserve in the consumer space—price, a sales pitch, and availability. For starters, OLED TVs are expensive. While it’s easy to argue that premium performance demands a premium price tag, an argument I’ve made more than once, you need the right sales pitch to convince customers to shell out the extra cash. The great thing about selling TVs, especially top-tier ones, is that they don’t require much “selling”—seeing can usually seal the deal

When you’re planning on buying a high-priced item, or any product, in fact, think of the time you’ve spent researching it before fully committing. How long did you spend? An hour? A day? Or even a week? To ensure we get the best we can for our money, we visit message boards, ask friends, and read reviews; however, not everything you hear or read is true. Therefore, to save you from the disappointment, as well as some money along the way, here are some misconceptions and myths about hard drives—and the truth behind them.

Storage is a tricky problem, and one we encounter frequently in all aspects of our lives. We’ve dealt with it when we’re figuring out which container to use for storing leftovers, or picking out an adequately sized suitcase for travel, and even shopping for the perfect pair of jeans to fit our extra-large phones. Each of these tasks requires some thought and foresight that affects what we choose to be our vessel. Therefore, why not apply it when we buy storage drives? A generic hard drive might be sufficient for everything across the board,

At its most basic, a Network Attached Storage device (NAS) is a single or multi-bay system that is able to share files among multiple systems, whether over a wired or wireless network connection. While most NAS devices are used largely for storage and sharing files, their capabilities stretch far beyond. A NAS may also be used as a multimedia server via UPnP and DLNA protocols to share and stream audio, video, and photos to gaming consoles, tablets, phones, and other computers, as well as be configured as FTP, web, email, surveillance, and
