Made with simplicity in mind for DIY videographers, podcasters, vloggers, and streamers, the U5 offers fast setup and ease of use, high-quality digital audio, reliable true-diversity reception on both channels, and replaceable, long-lasting rechargeable batteries, all packaged in compact and lightweight transmitter and receiver housings (the size of pagers for those of you who remember) and offered at a competitive price point.

Two configurations are available. The U5 comes with one transmitter, one LV1 omnidirectional lavalier mic, and a receiver—great for capturing speech for videos with one subject only. The U5T2 comes with two transmitters, two LV1 lavalier mics, and one receiver—perfect for shoots with two subjects. Both systems include mic clips, windscreens, batteries, cables, and a carrying pouch. The U5 operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM open band and can be used worldwide without restrictions. It employs true-diversity wireless technology on each channel, meaning that the receiver has four internal antennas and automatically selects the strongest RF signal to enhance wireless reliability greatly, even under difficult shooting conditions. Engineered for high-quality, 24-bit/48 kHz digital sound, low noise, and a flat 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, the system delivers clean audio at a distance of up to 100' with only 6ms maximum latency. Up to six microphones can be used simultaneously in the same location.

The U5T bodypack transmitter supports lavalier microphones and line-level signals, enabling you to connect any audio device (like a recorder or mixer) and transmit to a camera. A locking 3.5mm connector keeps the lavalier mic firmly attached to prevent accidental disconnection. Gain buttons let you adjust your input level and a mute button lets you turn off the microphone if needed. A low-cut filter helps to reduce traffic and appliance rumble noise.

The U5R's dual-channel receiver comes with a shoe-mount adapter that can be attached to a DSLR or mirrorless camera. It can also be used for wireless audio without a camera—for example, with voice recorders or mobile recording devices. The U5R is capable of receiving audio from two transmitters simultaneously. This allows you to save space on your camera by using a single receiver for two mics, great for interviews or any situations in which two people are talking on-camera. If you get an additional U5R, you can also send your audio signal simultaneously to two cameras or audio devices.

For fast setup time, the receiver is equipped with an auto-scan function that automatically searches and finds a clean transmission frequency to avoid unwanted dropouts. The transmitter then automatically pairs with the receiver. Two gain-control knobs let you quickly adjust the output levels independently for each microphone. Hassle-free settings are done using easy-to-reach buttons and a bright OLED screen—no need to read the manual to get started. A 3.5mm TRS cable to connect to your camera or recording device is supplied.

When using two mics/transmitters, the U5R receiver gives you control over the audio routing. You can either commit to your channel blend in mono mode and output identical left and right channels, or for greater control you can send one channel to each side in stereo mode and mix them later, as desired, in post.

Both transmitter and receiver conveniently operate on replaceable, lithium-ion rechargeable batteries that provide up to 5 hours of operation on a full charge. Batteries can be quickly changed, allowing you to use backups for long shoots. The batteries can be recharged while inside the components or using the optional U5C battery charger case. The case lets you recharge up to three batteries simultaneously, while protecting them during storage and transport. Both transmitter and receiver can also be powered through their USB ports, enabling them to run for extended hours on a USB power pack or indefinitely if you have access to AC.
