RØDE has hit the ground running at the 2023 NAB convention in Las Vegas by announcing a plethora of new products aimed at podcasters, streamers, and creative content producers, including the Streamer X audio/video livestreaming system, the RØDECaster Duo audio production studio, the PodMic USB Microphone, and a new Wireless GO II Charging Case.
Streamer X
As the name implies, the Streamer X is designed to enhance gaming and streaming applications by combining a professional audio interface and 4K video capture card in a compact and portable desktop console that makes it easy for even inexperienced podcasters to deliver professional, broadcast-quality productions. Connect a microphone or line-level source to the single XLR/TRS combo input feeding a high-gain Revolution preamp with optional phantom power or use your favorite headset with the 3.5mm input.
For wireless mics, the unit features a built-in receiver that works with any RØDE Series IV microphone to provide a tidy, cable-free connection. HDMI ports allow for streaming at up to 4K 30 fps or 2K 60 fps or video at up to 4K 60 fps or 2K 120 fps. Two USB-C connections allow you to accommodate dual computer setups easily, while four SMART pads can be customized to trigger music, sound effects, or voice effects instantly. Like all the products in the RØDE X family, the Streamer X is compatible with the UNIFY, RØDE Central, and RØDE Connect apps for expanded functionality and flexibility, including APHEX-powered vocal processing for a rich, “on-air” quality vocal sound your audience will appreciate.
RØDECaster Duo
If you’re working on a small 1- or 2-person podcast and you don’t need the video-streaming functions the Streamer X offers, the RØDECaster Duo might be a perfect fit. The unit offers the same sound engine and feature set from the extremely popular RØDECaster Pro II but scales it back to a pair of combo XLR/TRS mic/line inputs with high-gain Revolution preamps to accommodate a wide variety of dynamic and condenser microphones.
Additionally, a front-panel headset microphone input is ideal for gamers, while two more 1/4" line inputs allow you to add additional sources from music players and smartphones. In addition to these wired connections, the unit also provides a built-in Series IV receiver, allowing you to incorporate your wireless microphone seamlessly.
PodMic USB
Not content with adding USB connectivity to the NT1 5th Generation condenser microphone, RØDE is also introducing a USB version of its workhorse dynamic mic, the PodMic USB. This mic features the same sound quality and compact, durable build quality that made the original PodMic such a popular choice, but includes a built-in Revolution preamp to ensure you get a robust audio signal from the digital USB-C connection and wide compatibility with smartphones and tablets.
Smartly, the XLR connector is also still on board, allowing you to use the mic with analog gear for extra versatility. In addition to the sleek new finish, a studio-grade pop filter helps to reduce plosives and vocal pops for a cleaner, smoother sound. The PodMic USB features a headphone jack with volume control for latency-free monitoring and is compatible with the RØDE Connect, RØDE Central, RØDE Capture, and UNIFY apps, which provide flexible application support and allow you to access additional features and APHEX vocal processing.
Charging Case for Wireless GO II
Do you love your Wireless GO II but wish there were a handy charging case for it? Behold, the new Charging Case for Wireless GO II that accommodates both transmitters and the receiver and features an integrated battery that provides 3 full charges for up to 30 hours of use in the field. The case offers a zip enclosure and rugged build to protect the components during transit or storage.
That was a quick introduction to RØDE’s new offerings for podcasters, streamers, and content creators for NAB 2023. The new products and upgrades look terrific but it is past time for RØDE to go 32-bit floating point.
