PreSonus Releases Studio One Version 5 for Music Creators of All Types

0Share

PreSonus Studio One has quite the reputation in the world of digital audio workstations (DAWs); being the only DAW that can take a producer from inception to dissemination of DDP master files has its appeal for self-starters, especially in the electric genres. Now PreSonus is releasing Studio One Version 5, and it’s jam-packing this software with everything but the kitchen sink. From writing musical notation to performing, from creating vibey mixes to sending off error-free masters, Studio One Version 5 has got something for everyone—especially for people who consider themselves masters of all trades.

For those just getting their feet wet in the world of Studio One, PreSonus offers an Artist version with a bevy of included plug-ins and effects for processing. Third-party plug-in support is on hand, so you can use all your favorite VSTs and AU plug-ins. The DAW also supports ReWire. Version 5 runs in 64-bit floating point to accommodate all the fancy new 32-bit interfaces just coming to market, and it supports sample rates up to 384 kHz. With Studio One Remote Support, you can control the DAW from your compatible tablet or smart device. Clip Gain Envelopes let you cheat sections of the waveform louder or softer, so you can balance audio levels quickly, without resorting to tone-coloring compression or limiting. Keyswitch articulations now have their own automation lane, making refining your compositions easier to do.

If you want to bypass the Artist version for something with more features, check out the Professional version. Here, a new Score Editor lets you input musical notation, so no need for dedicated note-writing software. You can even view multiple tracks at once in the Score Editor, so you can read the arrangement of your work like a composer of old. The DAW as a whole supports MPE and poly-pressure MIDI controllers, bringing control possibilities squarely into the 21st Century. Melodyne 5 Essentials is integrated into the software.

That's only the beginning of what Version 5 offers. Want to feed your MIDI hardware directly into the mixer without cluttering up the screen with unnecessary audio tracks? PreSonus is giving you a new Aux Channel for that specific purpose. Want a fully featured DAW that gives you the sound of analog console baked into the summing, as well as the ability to create DDP files in the master stage? Studio One is the way to go.

Indeed, PreSonus now offers so much in software such as Studio One Version 5 that the company has created its own online community around all its wares. It's called Sphere, and it gives you rolling, licensed-based access to the complete payload of PreSonus products for recording, mixing, scoring, producing, and more. You'll find more than 100 libraries of samples and loops. Collaboration tools are on hand for working with others privately, storing your compositions and productions, or seeking help from certified PreSonus experts. Sphere is available as a monthly or annual membership.
