Quality audio for meetings and conferences just got a lot easier with the ATND1061 Beamforming Ceiling Array Microphone from Audio-Technica. Designed to be easy to use and versatile enough for a wide variety of spaces, the microphone array uses beamforming technology to focus audio capture on the person speaking and allows you to configure up to 32 user-defined pick-up zones quickly so you can prioritize coverage and clearly hear the participants.
The ATND1061 connects to your local Dante network via a single cable for PoE power, audio, and data and provides a smart feature set to optimize audio quality without requiring a PhD to operate. With a small form factor approximately the size of a wireless router, the unit can be used by itself for small rooms or combined with additional units to cover larger spaces. The array supports flush and surface mounting, is UL 2043 compliant for installation in plenum spaces, and can be used in open spaces with a VESA mount.
Room configuration, zone setup, and other settings are handled through A-T’s Digital Microphone Manager software application with 6 audio channels available. On all the channels, the microphone array’s 90° orthogonal beams track the speaker and point the mics toward the sound source for optimal audio pick up with less background sound.
Channel 1 is used for the Coverage zone, which can be configured with up to 16 user-defined microphone pick-up zones in which the speaker may be seated or move about. Only one of the 16 Coverage zones can be open at a time, with the microphone automatically selecting the zone with the strongest signal identified as speech. Channels 2 through 6 are allocated for the Priority channels, and the 16 user-defined pick-up zones available here take priority over the Coverage zone. A maximum of five Priority zones can be open at a time, with each open zone selecting the strongest signal identified as speech. Exclusion zones can be set to avoid known sources of unwanted noise, such as HVAC systems.
Helpful features include onboard DSP technology that provides automatic gain control, acoustic echo cancellation, and EQ. Voice-activation technology helps the system discern between desirable speech and unwanted background noise (such as paper shuffling), helping your meetings stay focused and productive. An IR remote is also included to allow users to mute the microphone when a muting function is not available in the room configuration. The IR remote can also be used to recall presets or toggle the Power Save mode on and off.
