Audio-Technica Announces AT2020USB-XP Mic with Upgraded Features

Over the last decade, the professional podcasting, streaming, and content-creation industry has grown exponentially, and shows no signs of slowing down. So how does the AT2020USB-XP improve upon previous models? First of all, the digital converter has been improved to support up to 24-bit / 192 kHz sampling for extremely clear and natural sound. The microphone now includes a noise-reduction switch for selecting between three different levels of noise reduction. Automatic gain control settings are also on board to help ensure consistent recording levels. Finally, a snap-on pop filter lets you easily connect to either the included desktop stand or any other traditional mic stand.

With a smooth, extended frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the AT2020USB-XP is ideally suited for high-fidelity recording in the streaming and podcasting domain. The cardioid pickup pattern focuses audio capture in front of the mic to pick up less unwanted sound from the rear and sides.

Handy LEDs help to indicate the status of each function on the microphone, as well as displaying whether the mic is powered or muted.

Of course, a good USB mic lets you hear your mix, as well as record it. With the built-in headphone jack, you get latency-free monitoring with direct volume control, so you always have an ideal mix in your ears.

You can even use the onboard mix control to blend the mic audio with the sound from your computer. And when things are getting a little too rowdy or you need to take a quick bathroom break, the capacitive touch-sensitive mute button deactivates your mic audio silently.

This plug-and-play mic works instantly with your computer, no drivers required, and connects easily via the common USB-C output.

To let you hit the ground running, Audio-Technica includes plenty of accessories with the AT2020USB-XP, including the aforementioned desktop stand and snap-on pop filter, a USB-C to USB-A cable, a USB-A to USB-C conversion adapter, and a 3/8-16 to 5/8"-27 threaded adapter for universal compatibility with any computer, mic stand, or boom arm.

And that's it! With a host of improvements, tons of hands-on control, and a plethora of convenient accessories, the AT2020USB-XP will surely be finding a comfortable home in the setup of many professional podcasters, streamers, and content producers in the coming months.
