Sigma Announces 10-18mm DC DN and Development of 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN Lens

Sigma is making a splash with two new lens announcements: first is the 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary, a compact wide-angle zoom for APS-C-format L-Mount, Sony E, and FUJIFILM X mirrorless cameras. The second is a development announcement for the forthcoming 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS Sports lens―the long-awaited professional staple tele-zoom for full-frame L-Mount and Sony E systems.

The 10-18mm is an especially compact and portable ultra-wide zoom that suits vlogging and content creation needs perfectly while also suiting landscape, travel, and architectural shooters. Designed for APS-C-format sensors, this lens offers a 15-27mm equivalent focal length range and the bright, constant f/2.8 maximum aperture lets you work in a variety of lighting conditions. It has a close 4.5" minimum focusing distance and 1:4 reproduction ratio, also making it a unique choice for close-up shooting with interesting compositions and broad depth of field.

As a perfect lens for content creators, it’s obviously built with video recording in mind—the lens has been designed specifically to minimize focus breathing for natural-looking focus shifts while recording. The lens uses a stepping motor, and internal focusing for smooth, fast, and quiet focus control. It is compatible with various in-camera recording functions, depending on the camera system in use, ranging from AF tracking modes to DMF and AF+MF functions.

The lens weighs just 9.1 oz, measures 2.4" long, accepts 67mm filters, and comes with a newly developed push-on petal-style lens hood. This hood attaches via a spring and lever system, as opposed to a conventional bayonet mount, which helps to reduce the overall size and weight to match the lens itself.

The 10-18mm f/2.8 will be a great companion to the already announced 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens, providing a wider counterpart to this sleek standard zoom and offering a complete 15mm to 75mm range across the two lenses with a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture.

70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS Sports – Development Announcement

The second announcement today is a development announcement for the 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS Sports lens, which will be available in late 2023.

This has been a highly anticipated lens from Sigma because it is one of the most popular lenses for working professionals, sports photographers, portrait photographers, and other specialists. It will be a lens for full-frame L-Mount and Sony E systems and will complement the 14-24mm f/2.8 and 24-70mm f/2.8 zooms as a trio of high-grade f/2.8 zooms that cover ultra-wide 24mm to medium-telephoto 200mm.

As part of the Sports series of Sigma’s lineup, this lens will emphasize speed and reliability, including quick autofocus, thanks to an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor, a new optical stabilizer with the latest OS2 algorithm, and their most robust weather resistance.

We’re looking forward to more details and specifications for the 70-200mm f/2.8 in the coming months.
