Lowepro has added a pair of Photosport X backpacks, the RunAbout BP 18L II collapsible backpack, and the GearUp Pro Camera Box XXL II to the adventure-centric Photosport collection. The Photosport X was created for mountaineering and backcountry skiing, incorporating attachments for skis, sticks, helmets, crampons, climbing ropes, and other accessories. The RunAbout 18L II makes a handful of practical updates to Lowepro’s most modular bag. Finally, the GearUp Pro Camera Box XXL boasts the most storage in the GearUp line.
The Photosport X is available in 35L or 45L capacities, depending upon the length of your journey and amount of gear you are carrying. A side bottom door can be used to store crampons or other supplies separate from the rest of your equipment. Removable exterior straps can be used to secure a variety of bulky accessories, from ropes to skis. An interior fastening system for GearUp boxes adds an extra level of protection against shock for camera equipment. Interior access is possible via a collapsible top lid or rear compartment.
A removable waist belt offers stabilization and an additional means of attaching climbing accessories. The 45L model also includes a load lifter strap for maximum support during demanding activities. Both bags come with rain covers to provide an extra layer of protection against extreme environmental conditions.
The updated RunAbout is an ultra-portable backpack equally suited as a day bag or an emergency bag packed with other gear. Notable in the second iteration of this bag is a more flexible side shock cord and exterior phone pocket. Simplified top lid closure makes access to gear easier and compatibility across the GearUp lineup allows you to elevate its protective capabilities. Easily collapsible, it can be carried inside of a Photosport X or Photosport Pro bag for use as an emergency bag.
The GearUp Pro Camera Box XXL provides maximum storage for use with the Photosport bags with 45L or higher capacities. Equipment can be accessed through the top or side of the box. It is large enough to store a DSLR or mirrorless camera with 70-200mm f/2.8 attached and up to five additional lenses. Side loops provide a means of suspension inside of compatible Photosport bags to buffer your camera from bumps and shocks.
