Lensbaby has announced the OMNI Universal Expansion Pack with Shapes: eight new tools for generating controlled distortions in photos and videos. Using a blend of colored mirrors and clear shapes, the kit can be used to produce flare and reflections, manipulate contrast, and shape bokeh in repeatable ways.
The new collection builds off of Lensbaby's OMNI Creative Filter System, a hands-free means of positioning objects of varying reflectivity and transparency in front of lenses to impart unique effects upon images.
The Clear Sunstar and Clear Paddle are like two pieces of a puzzle with outward and inward facing points respectively. Either can be used to create rainbow flare in backlit subjects, reduce contrast, or introduce subtle reflections.
Two "Spatulas" can be used to add reflections or simulate light leaks when used at an angle with lenses. A silver/gold and silver/purple version are included for an expanded palette.
A trio of "Long," rectangular shapes offer unique cutouts for producing flare, reflections, or light leak effects. The shapes include silver/red long snaggle teeth, partial silver long crescents, and silver/blue long swiss cheese.
Rounding out the collection is the Partial Silver Swiss Clouds plate, capable of creating flare when photographing backlit subjects as well as repeated ghost images of light sources and subtle reflections.
The expansion pack includes mounting clamps, a handle, and a carrying case.
