Sony announces the full-frame ZV-E1 vlogging camera, DJI introduces the Integra FPV goggles, and we bring you numerous pre-NAB announcements.
Week of March 26, 2023
News always seems to ramp up right before B&H goes on holiday and this year is no exception. We found out what Sony was teasing last week—it's the ZV-E1, a full-frame mirrorless vlogging camera. Meanwhile, DJI is expanding its FPV offerings with Integra goggles and the RC Motion 2 controller. Lastly, with NAB around the corner, we are starting to see a wave of announcements for pro video products.
Sony goes for full-frame vlogging with ZV-E1 mirrorless camera
Are you an aspiring content creator who has been looking for a camera that delivers the image quality you always dreamed of? Well, Sony might just have what you need: the ZV-E1 Mirrorless Camera. This camera takes the full-frame sensor found in the highly regarded a7S III and FX3 and squeezes it into a ZV-series vlogging-style camera body.
This is a situation where size matters. Larger sensors generally deliver better image quality, while smaller camera bodies are easier to use handheld and for everyday shooting. The ZV-E1 has both features. It is the smallest full-frame mirrorless in Sony's lineup and can deliver 4K 10-bit video at up to 120 fps. Plus, for advanced shooters, there are S-Log3 and S-Cinetone Picture Profiles.
Beyond pure image quality, Sony has added some new features to make life easier for content creators:
-
AI-powered autofocus system (similar to a7R V)
-
Cinematic Vlog Settings with Cinemascope aspect ratio and different Looks
-
Multiple Face Recognition, Auto Framing, and Framing Stabilizer
-
Auto Microphone Directivity
-
And more...

This is an interesting choice if you are looking for a more serious vlogging camera. At $2,200 for the body, it even manages to make high-end image quality much more affordable. The ZV-E1 has more under the hood and, if you want to learn more, then please watch our review video, above.
DJI elevates FPV experience with Integra goggles and RC Motion 2 controller
FPV drones are a ton of fun and DJI hopes to make the experience of using the Avata even better with the launch of the Integra Goggles and RC Motion 2 Controller.
The Integra goggles represent a major change from the Goggles 2. The Integra is lightweight and combines the headband and battery into a single unit. It also manages to include some wonderful features:
-
Dual 1080p micro-OLED screens with 700 nit brightness
-
100 Hz refresh rate
-
DJI O3+ video transmission system
-
Low latency of 30 ms
Built-in GPS will even make it possible to fly without hooking up your smartphone. The Integra eliminates some other hardware features to make it smaller, lighter, and less costly, but this should help make FPV drones even more accessible for those looking to jump in for the first time.
Along with the goggles, DJI is releasing an updated controller: the DJI RC Motion 2. It combines motion-sensing technology with an upgraded joystick for intuitive operation. You can easily fly your drone up, down, backward, forward, and sideways. An Fn dial allows you to tweak camera settings without needing to interact with the goggles.
