Sennheiser releases the Profile USB Condenser Microphone, DJI launches the Mini 2 SE drone, Sony creates the VENICE 4K Live Bundle, and more.
Week of March 12, 2023
It has been a light week in terms of announcements, with a few new releases from Sennheiser, DJI, and Sony. To make up for it, we’re going to take a look at some of our latest videos, with a focus on portraiture and one on upgrading your computer’s GPU.
Sennheiser’s New Mic for Streaming and Podcasting
There’s no denying the popularity of livestreaming and podcasting, and Sennheiser is addressing this burgeoning genre with a versatile, easy-to-use USB-C mic: the Profile USB Microphone. This condenser mic is tailormade for content creators, gamers, educational streamers, podcasters, and other single-person productions with its unique onboard controls and a specialized cardioid pickup pattern that helps isolate your voice from other ambient sounds.
The hands-on controls include a mute button, along with gain control and mix control dials for balancing mic and device levels, and there’s a 3.5mm headphone output with its own level control. The Profile comes with its own dedicated Table Stand and includes a 9.8'-long USB cable.

DJI Launches the Entry-Level Mini 2 SE Drone
Fitting into DJI’s Mini lineup, the new Mini 2 SE is a super-compact, lightweight drone that’s a natural progression from the Mini SE—and a lower-resolution complement to the Mini 2. The Mini 2 SE borrows much of the Mini 2’s features, including dual-band OcuSync 2.0 video transmission at a 6.2-mile maximum range, an identical selection of QuickShots intelligent flight modes, and the same Level 5 (up to 24 mph) wind resistance, but reduces the maximum resolution from 4K30p down to 2.7K30p.
As a Mini drone, one of the most important features of the Mini 2 SE is that it retains its light weight of less than 0.55 lb, meaning the drone does not have to be registered in the US to fly—it’s a great, seamless entry into the world of owning a drone.

Sony VENICE 4K Live Bundle
Mixing the rich cinematic look of the VENICE line with the efficient workflow needed for live event and multi-camera productions, Sony has just released the VENICE 4K Live Bundle, which includes the VENICE 6K camera with a MultiDyne Silver Back V 4K camera back transceiver, SilverBack-VB base station 12G/3G transceiver, Juice 48 external power supply, and all the necessary cabling, tally lamps, mounting kits, and more.
Pairing the VENICE system with the MultiDyne SilverBack system, this bundle lets you “create a fiber optic link between your camera and your control room, in the studio and remote environments, and expand the possibilities of what live-event coverage can look like.”
