0Share

Are you tired of carrying around your dedicated, handheld light and/or color meter? If you’re looking to lighten your load by shedding some gear, while also retaining functionality, the Lumu Power 2 Light Meter combines light and color measurements into a small, handheld, and portable unit that connects to your iPhone’s Lightning port and is controlled via an app. The Lumu Power 2 uses two sensors, one of which is based on the CIE 1931/DIN 5033 color standard, while the second is a silicon photodiode that captures light at 750,000 measurements per second. Other technical features include the ability to measure color temperatures from 1600 to 18000K with an accuracy of ΔE < 0.6, an exposure range of -4 to 20 EV at 100 ISO with an accuracy of ±0.1 EV, and a flash duration of 1/40,000 to 1/250 of a second. It can also measure illuminance within a range of -0.15 to 250,000 lux with ±3% accuracy.

The Lumu Power 2 can handle a wide range of lighting situations and delivers accurate results. Depending on your needs, there are three varieties to choose from: Lite, Power, and Pro. All models measure ambient exposure, flash exposures, and cine/video. Upgrading to Pro, which can be done from within the Luma Power 2’s app, unlocks the ability to measure illuminance, chromaticity, and color temperature. Upgrading to the highest level, Pro, further unlocks flash color temperature measurements.

Each Lumu Power 2 Light Meter is calibrated before leaving the manufacturing line and comes with a calibration certificate and a leather bag.

Does your iPhone currently double as a light meter? Do you prefer a dedicated handheld unit, like a Sekonic? What do you think of the Lumu Power 2 and its abilities? Feel free to leave your comments below.
