Bose® Expands Frames Sunglasses, True Wireless™, and Soundbar Categories

0Share

The evolution of audio entertainment continues at Bose®, with the announcement of new offerings in its cutting-edge Frames™ sunglasses, venerable wireless headphone, and home theater categories. The Frames™ gain three new styles: the cat eye Soprano™, square-framed Tenor™, and sporty Tempo™. They join the initial Frames™ offerings of the Alto™ and Rondo™. On the more traditional side of the headphone spectrum, Bose® released the Sports Earbuds™, successors to its initial True Wireless™ earbuds, the SoundSport Free™. In addition, the new QuietComfort™ True Wireless™ headphones add granular active noise cancellation, which was previously only found in its over/on-ear models. Last but not least, in home theater, Bose® added some intelligence to its soundbar options with the Smart Soundbar™ 300.

Upgraded Frames

Crafted from eyewear-grade nylon with black polarized lenses that block 99% of UVA/UVB rays, Bose® worked to ensure the Soprano™ and Tenor™ Frames are high-quality shades in their own right. Unlike normal sunglasses, the stems feature Bose’s Open Ear Audio™ design, with built-in speakers that direct audio into your ears. Whether you enjoy music, audio books, or podcasts, this technology works to ensure only you can hear it, without the need for anything to be placed in, on, or around your ears. As with previous Frames™, to the unsuspecting passerby, they look like normal sunglasses.

Of the three new styles of Frames™, the Tempo™ stands out because they are Bose’s inaugural entry into the sports subcategory. The wraparound lenses are also polarized with 99% UVA/UVB protection and feature a VLT (Visible Light Transmission) rating of 12%, making them ideal for most any outdoor activity. The frame is made from a TR-90 nylon that maintains durability and flexibility, while also being IPX4-rated for water resistance.

The entire new line of Bose® Frames™ pair with your compatible Bluetooth mobile device and offer a built-in microphone for hands-free calling and voice command support for Google Assistant and Siri. To break out of the all-black look, Bose® also released two sets of replaceable lenses for each Frames™ style. For the Tempo™, choose a Road Orange with 20% VLT for general running and cycling, or the Trail Blue lenses with a 28% VLT, geared toward trail running and mountain biking. Change the style of the Soprano™ Frames™ with non-polarized Purple Fade or polarized Mirrored Rose Gold, and for the Tenor™, Bose® offers polarized lenses in Mirrored Blue or Mirrored Silver.

New True Wireless Earbuds

In the True Wireless™ category, Bose’s® new QuietComfort™ in-ear headphones stand out with active noise cancellation technology and 11 different levels of control. Each level filters out more or less of the distracting ambient sound surrounding you. Activate full-transparency mode to make it feel like you are not wearing anything, so you can more easily conduct conversations without removing the earbuds. As with the True Wireless™ Sport™ headphones, the QuietComfort™ are IPX4-rated for water resistance and can be used for hands-free calls and digital assistant interaction via an integrated microphone.

Additional similarities between the two new models include StayHear Max™ ear tips and the inclusion of a volume-optimized active EQ. The EQ automatically adjusts the lows and highs of your music for a consistent, balanced sound. Unlike the QuietComfort™ model, the updated True Wireless™ Sport™ earbuds utilize StayHear Max™ ear tips with an extended flexible wing. This gives the Sport™ earbuds more robust staying power during vigorous workouts and activities. Battery life on both is very similar, with up to 6 hours of playback for the QuietComfort™, and up to 5 hours for the Sport™. As with other True Wireless™ headphones, Bose® includes a charging case with each. The case delivers an additional 12 hours of power to the QuietComfort™, and an additional 10 hours to the Sport™.

Better Home Audio

Rounding out the recent releases is the Bose® Smart Soundbar™ 300, which adds Bose® Voice4Video™ technology for the ultimate in voice control. A remote is included, but with Voice4Video™, you can simply tell your TV, cable, or satellite box what to do with Alexa. A simple command, such as “Alexa, watch NFL Network” changes the channel with ease. A noise-rejecting microphone system listens in every direction to make sure you’re heard loud and clear. The Smart Soundbar™ 300 can also double as a home Bluetooth speaker, playing back content you can stream from paired smartphones or tablets.
