Announcing the New TK850 Home Theater Projector from BenQ

0Share

BenQ is following up on last year’s release of the HT3550 Home Theater Projector with the new, brighter TK850. It outputs up to 3000 lumens of brightness, so it’s better able to overcome ambient light, making it a good choice for dim to moderately lit rooms. Like the previous models in the line, the TK850 uses pixel-shift technology to project a 4K UHD image onto your screen or wall when paired with compatible content and source devices like a Blu-ray player or gaming console.

Designed primarily for home theater use, the TK850 also supports the HDR10 and HLG HDR formats, so you’ll see enhanced contrast and more vibrant color from compatible Blu-ray and broadcast sources. Color quality is further improved upon with Enhanced Cinema-Optimized Tone Mapping, which uses BenQ’s Dynamic Iris and Dynamic Black technologies to boost the contrast ratio, bringing out more details in the dark areas of an image.

The TK850 has two HDMI inputs for connecting a high-definition cable/satellite box and a gaming console or Blu-ray player, plus a USB 3.1 port that can read your photo and audio/video files from compatible thumb drives, allowing you to play files without directly connecting a computer. Its optical audio output directs the audio input to the projector out to your audio system, so you can enjoy quality audio with your HDR video. If you don’t have a suitable audio system, the projector also has two 5W speakers built in.

You can place the projector roughly 8′ from your screen or wall to achieve a 100″ image. 30″ images can be projected from as close as 2.5′, while images as large as 300″ can be attained by moving the projector 32′ from your projection surface. ±30° automatic vertical keystone correction will properly square-off your image if the projector is at a downward or upward angle from your screen, and manual zoom and focus will help you get the size and clarity you’re seeking.
