When Western Digital first announced the WD_Black SN770 SSD, our initial thought was that this might end up being one of the best midrange drives on the market. Promising fast transfer speeds, a solid range of storage options, and an aggressively low cost, the SN770 appeared to be the perfect blend of performance and price. But could the real-world results live up to the promise of its marketing? To find out, we installed the

I was already on the hunt for a laptop case that could hold its own against the rest of my gear when I was asked to review the Pelican 1495. As a photographer, my requirements were simple: I needed a case that is rugged enough to endure the abuses of the road yet customizable enough to streamline tethered shooting on set. Pelican is the name behind most of my go-to hard cases for camera gear, so I was excited to see how its take on a

Although the brand is best known for its gaming laptops, MSI has gained additional prominence lately, thanks to its nascent line of business laptops. Case in point: the aptly named Summit E16 Flip, a 2-in-1 portable that currently sits at the top of MSI's "Business & Productivity" division. We spent some time with the Summit E16 Flip to see how it

A few years ago, I realized my family had a media problem: our movies, home videos, music, and pictures were scattered all over the place. Some media was stuck on physical discs, a bunch of it was stored on unlabeled thumb drives, and some were even trapped on old, obsolete computers. Even worse, it was all dumb; we had no sensible way of accessing and managing our multimedia library. Like many of you, my 2020 was spent mostly indoors, so consolidating and organizing our media became a project. But I underestimated how long it would take to

Earlier this year, Crucial added a 4TB storage option to its popular X8-series of external SSDs. Like the other storage options in the X8 lineup, the 4TB model promises fast transfer times, a slim, sturdy design, and enough storage to hold a small library’s worth of data. To see whether it could live up to those lofty promises, we took the 4TB X8 External SSD home for a weeklong hands-on review.

My grandparents have a lot of papers. Between their personal documents and reams of files from owning a small business, trying to pare down enormous stacks of paper has been no easy task. Over the weekend, I boarded NJ Transit with an ADS-3300W Scanner tucked under my arm to see if this bad boy could make a dent in their filing drawers.

When AMD first announced the Radeon Pro W6800 Graphics Card, my first thought was that I had misheard. Surely, they weren't releasing a 32-gig card—that’s four times the amount of its predecessor! Which is insane. Turns out, I didn’t mishear. AMD really did release a 32GB workstation GPU. And we were lucky enough to test it out.

It’s safe to say that Samsung’s T-series SSDs are the best around. Their blend of performance, size, and price can’t be matched. The T7 is the current gen, but Samsung is doing great work in expanding the functionality of the series. Most recently the brand ruggedized it, resulting in the T7 Shield.

Renowned memory manufacturer Crucial first announced its debut line of DDR5 memory products in October 2021. The next-gen memory modules arrived with promises of faster transfer speeds, better power management, and double the effective bandwidth of their DDR4 predecessors. Unfortunately, high demand combined with serious supply-chain woes kept many DDR5 products off the shelves and out of
