3 Reasons Why the VAIO FE14 Works for the Business Professional

0Share

If you're a traveling business professional who is looking for a laptop that offers productivity through power and performance, the VAIO 14.1" FE14 Laptop may meet your needs. With its understated look and minimalist design, the FE14 still gives off a professional air without being too flashy—but you may want to keep a microfiber cloth handy because some parts of the chassis attract fingerprints.

Performance

The VAIO FE Series now features 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors. The FE14 model houses the 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1255U 10-Core processor. Its dual performance cores can be boosted up to 4.7 GHz while the remaining eight efficiency cores help deal with background tasks and power efficiency. Paired with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, the VAIO FE14 can handle multitasking as well as productivity apps, such as Microsoft Office, with ease. The 1TB SSD allows for both fast boot and load times, making sure you can get to your apps quickly. Windows 11 Home is the installed operating system so you'll have access to the latest Windows features.

When it comes to the display, the FE14 features a 14.1" Full HD IPS screen powered by integrated Intel® Iris™ Xe Graphics. The 1920 x 1080 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio pair well with the 14.1" screen while the IPS panel provides wider viewing angles. The 14.1" screen isn't too big and bulky for when you need to type while on the go, but still provides enough screen real estate to see what you're doing. Need to share your screen during a presentation in a large meeting or conference room? You can hook up the FE14 to a larger external display via the HDMI port. VAIO also managed to add stereo speakers with THX Spatial Audio support.

Connectivity

Staying connected is important for a traveling business professional, especially if you need to check your email or upload to the cloud. With Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), you'll be able to connect to a Wi-Fi network with ease. Need to download or transfer a large file or a more stable connection? The FE14 also offers a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 LAN jack. Connecting the FE14 to the Internet via an Ethernet cable allows for a reliable wired connection. The FE14 can provide up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge (depending on usage).

While the backlit keyboard and precision touchpad can handle most of your typing needs, you can also connect peripherals and accessories, such as a mouse or an external hard drive, with the single USB-C and three USB-A ports. Unfortunately, there is no Thunderbolt™ 3 support on the USB-C port. There's also an SD card reader to transfer media files, such as photos and videos.

Security

Log in safely and securely on the VAIO FE14 with its integrated fingerprint reader. While the 2MP front-facing webcam is great for video chats and conference calls, there is a physical slider to cover it when not in use. This helps prevent unauthorized access. Unfortunately, since it is not an IR webcam, you can't use Windows Hello to log in via facial recognition. There is a lock slot that supports third-party Kensington locks (sold separately). In the event you need to leave your laptop unattended, it's recommended that you utilize the lock slot to ensure that your FE14 is still there when you return.

Conclusion

If you're looking for an understated laptop that can handle your productivity apps without breaking the bank, the VAIO 14.1" FE14 Laptop may be right for you.
